CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Aradia Megido
CANON: Homestuck
CANON REFERENCE: Here.
AGE: 16
GENDER: Female (she/her/hers)
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: HS3.

APPEARANCE: here and here.

Unlike canon, she does not have wings; only her troll-like features.

PERSONALITY:
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Aside from the obvious mutations -- the greyish skin tone and the long, ram's horns protruding from her head -- Aradia has these abilities:

Death Sense: Being able to sense the time someone has until their death, as well as when death has occurred in a certain spot, no matter how long ago the death took place. Aradia can read how much time a person has until they die when she concentrates on them, and sense death in the area when she does the same.

Mediumship: In addition, Aradia is able to speak with the dead and even request favors of them, like commanding some ghosts to run a villain off. With future training, she will also be able to put herself into a trance-like state, in order to reach the spirit world and commune with ghosts in their home.

WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
• Aradia is merely a passive observer in other's fate -- right now, she cannot do anything except see how much longer they have to live, and inform them of it. She is not even aware of being able to sense death in the environment at all at the present.
• Seeing how much time someone has left takes effort -- the better she knows a person's life, the easier it is to see their time of death. For strangers, it would take at least five minutes of complete calm and silence; while she's moving or on the run, it could take up to ten minutes at current training. In the future, she will lower these times, but it will still take intense concentration and is not something she can do automatically.
• On an OOC level, Aradia will not be allowed to tell someone else when they are going to die, unless they specifically ask her to and it's cleared with both players OOCly before the thread proceeds.
• When she is able to sense death in the area, it will only be people's deaths (mutants, humans, aliens, etc) and nothing like dogs, cats, or any pet-type creatures. The longer ago the death took place, the longer and harder she has to concentrate. This takes even longer than attempting to read someone's time of death does, and will require quiet and and calm for the entire duration, or else it will not work, her concentration will be broken.
• With Mediumship, currently she can speak to the dead if they are nearby, but cannot put herself into a trance state or summon them to help her. With more training, she will be able to summon up to (but no more than!) five ghosts -- beginning with one and working her way up as her training progresses. This takes intense effort and often means she will be indebted to them in the future, so it is something she will be required to use lightly, if at all.
• Her trance state will always require perfect silence once she learns how to use it, and will be broken if she is interrupted. This is also very dangerous -- if someone interrupts her, she could pass out and not wake up for days, depending on how far away her own spirit was from her body. Even if she completes a trance state perfectly, she will be exhausted (and also hungry!) afterwards, because she does not have a clear vision of time while talking to spirits. So it's not something she could just plop down and do in the middle of battle, or while on the run.

AU HISTORY:
Aradia was born to relatively poor parents in the borough of Brooklyn, New York City, New York. It was clear from the moment she came into the world that she was different -- her skin was a greyish color, with horns growing on top of her head. Her parents, scared that someone would notice, gave her to an orphanage as soon as they were able. Aradia was never upset with her parents for their decision; in fact, she spent a lot of her time being "okay with things" that happened to her because of her mutation. The orphanage took in all sorts of people, even young mutants -- but that didn't stop the "normal" children from teasing her mercilessly, even getting her into situations that could have left her seriously injured or killed.

In an attempt to stay positive, Aradia took to leading a small group of children who had other kinds of mutations in small adventures around the neighborhood. While they weren't allowed to go very far, they all donned hand-me-down costumes and gave themselves superhero codenames, making fun where they could find it.

It was while they grew up that Aradia first discovered her actual mutant abilities. One of her friends, playing in the street with no concern, was hit by a car. It was only because Aradia had suddenly been able to "see" that his life was dwindling to mere seconds that she had called him away enough to prevent any fatal injuries. Still, the boy's legs were broken, and Aradia was distraught; after that, her friends all stayed away from her, certain that she was going to cause them to get injured, too. Instead, she turned to her new powers and found that ghosts made great company. Still looking on the positive side, Aradia managed to find out though the owner of the orphanage about a school for people who had mutant abilities. Relieved to have her out of the house -- she just seemed to bring death and misfortune, even if it was just a sense of it -- the orphanage gave her a small bit of money and sent her off to the care of the Institute at the age of thirteen.

At this time, Aradia has been living at the Institute for three years; she's a pretty isolated person, but upbeat and engaging when people care to get to know her and look past her slightly morbid abilities. She's very forthcoming and enjoys all her classes, even the ones she doesn't do particularly well in.

SAMPLE
1ST PERSON SAMPLE:
so i was thinking about the clubs this school has
and i was wondering how many people might be interested in an archaeology club
i personally think that studying the death of civilizations is fascinating!
but then again i know ive been exposed to death from a young age so talking about it for me is not like what others experience
we could stay away from the years where civilizations go into decline
and maybe study their times of triumph!
we can start with america and then we could go on all sorts of adventures
like field trips
of course we would probably have to get a professors permission but that shouldnt be a problem
archaeology is for all ages!

oh by the way my names aradia and im in the high school
maybe think about the archaeology club and let me know?
it could be a good way to make friends
other than the dead ones i already have
thank you for your time!
